Capital One Celebrates Millennium Park 20th Anniversary

Capital One is on a mission to Change Banking for Good and we’re proud of what we continue to do in the Windy City

20 years after Millennium Park’s official opening on July 16, 2004, Capital One was proud to sponsor the 20th Anniversary Celebration, a four-day, free celebration featuring award-winning headliners, concerts, kid-friendly activities and dance performances.

Capital One is deeply committed to Chicago, and the Millennium Park 20th Anniversary Celebration allowed us to bring together our many volunteers, Café Ambassadors, and leaders who call Chicago home.

The numbers speak for themselves:

  • Capital One proudly employs more than 1,700 Chicagoans – who support this city from our offices and Cafés each day.

  • Capital One invests in our community – in the last 3 years alone, we’ve financed $232 million in affordable housing here in Chicago.

  • And Capital One has provided 500 grants – and counting – to mission-driven nonprofits across the state. Hope Chicago is one of many of our incredible non-profit organizations with whom Capital One partners.  Hope Chicago is an innovative economic mobility program seeking to strengthen Chicago's future by providing debt-free college and workforce opportunities to 4,000 Chicago Public School graduates and their parents.

“As a third generation Chicagoan, the Capital One team and I are thrilled to celebrate the 20th anniversary celebration which builds on our longstanding commitment to Chicago, elevating our region as a vibrant place to live, work, and travel,” said Dave Kucera, Capital One’s Chicago Market President and Head of Financial Institutions Group. “Capital One thinks it’s very important to partner with nonprofits in our communities, especially with our friends at Hope Chicago. Last year we volunteered over 8,000 hours across different partnerships in different communities and we’re happy to lean in – it’s great that we could have the opportunity to help a lot of kids and their families get a better education and hopefully a better foundation for the future,” said Kucera.

Volunteers stand together in Millennium Park. Associates choose to give back to Chicago in a multitude of ways, including pro-bono or skills-based volunteering, being on the board of a nonprofit, fundraising or collection drives and even disaster-relief based volunteering. Each of these areas allows associates to use their skill sets to make a real impact and create lasting change.
