Article QuickTakes:

The Ioniq 6 sedan is the second model in Hyundai's all-electric Ioniq range, joining the Ioniq 5 crossover that debuted in 2022. The Ioniq 6 shares its underpinnings with the Ioniq 5 but swaps out the crossover's blocky, hatchback design in favor of a four-door layout with a sweeping roofline.

2023 Hyundai Ioniq 6: Range and Charging

The longest-range version of the Ioniq 6, the SE Long Range rear-wheel drive, will provide a manufacturer-estimated 361 miles of range. However, range differs greatly by trim level and the number of electric motors. The SE Standard Range — the cheapest version of the Ioniq 6 — checks in at just 240 miles. Other versions fill in the gaps. Here's a quick look at manufacturer-estimated range by variation:

  • SE Standard Range: 240 miles
  • SEL and Limited with all-wheel drive: 270 miles
  • SEL and Limited with rear-wheel drive: 305 miles
  • SE Long Range with all-wheel drive: 316 miles
  • SE Long Range with rear-wheel drive: 361 miles

Power outputs start at just 149 horsepower for the base SE Standard Range and climb to 225 (single motor) or 320 horsepower (dual motor).

The wide range of configurations might mean some shoppers will want to balance whether they prefer a lower price, more power, all-wheel drive, or some combination of the three.

The Ioniq 6 comes standard with fast-charging capabilities, which Hyundai says allow the electric car's battery to charge up to 80% in as little as 18 minutes using a 350-kW, 800-volt charger.

Hyundai Ioniq 6: Technology

The Ioniq 6 will offer remote parking via Hyundai's available Remote Smart Parking Assist 2. When equipped with the remote parking tech, Hyundai says the Ioniq 6 will be capable of pulling itself into and out of tight parking spots as well as parallel parking itself.

Hyundai's Highway Driving Assist 2, a Level 2 advanced driving assistance system, will be available as an optional extra for the Ioniq 6. Using GPS and highway data, Highway Driving Assist 2 is said to be capable of centering the vehicle in its lane while maintaining a safe distance from the vehicle ahead.
