Mopar is Stellantis's (formerly Fiat Chrysler Automobiles) genuine original-equipment service and parts division. The division also specializes in aftermarket accessories and has even created special-edition model vehicles. Mopar, which is a mashup of "motor" and "parts," was introduced in the late 1930s by Chrysler and debuted with antifreeze as its only product.

Now, Mopar services and provides parts and accessories for Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Fiat, Alfa Romeo, and Ram, with thousands of service centers across the world and an extensive .

Mopar's History Dates Back to the 1930s

Shortly after its inception in 1937, Mopar shifted its production to build weapons and vehicles for World War II. After the war, Mopar moved its focus back to building out its parts catalog and introduced a full line of products for all Chrysler automobiles.

When muscle cars became increasingly popular in the 1960s and '70s, enthusiasts began using Mopar as a term to refer to their Dodge Chargers and Challengers as well as Plymouth Road Runners, and Barracudas. Race parts for use on the street and the track and crate engines soon became available from Mopar, allowing customers to build out or fix their Mopar muscle cars from home more easily than ever.

In the '70s, Mopar started a parts delivery service, making it even easier for customers to maintain their cars themselves. Another major milestone for Mopar came in 1987 when Jeep was added into the service and parts division after being acquired by Chrysler from American Motors Corporation (AMC).

Today, Stellantis Uses the Mopar Name in Many Ways

There are more than 1,750 Mopar Express Lane service centers in more than 20 countries around the world, servicing Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Fiat, Alfa Romeo, and Ram products. Mopar-branded parts and accessories are also sold through dealerships. The extensive catalog includes a wide range of items from lift kits and winches for Jeep owners to genuine supercharged 6.2-liter Hemi V8 crate engines for people who want to Hellcat swap their Chrysler 300.

The company also recently started offering at-home wall charging stations for Jeep's 4xe plug-in hybrid models and the Chrysler Pacifica plug-in hybrid.

Mopar Even Dresses Up Limited-Edition Models

Mopar introduced its first Mopar-branded package in 2010 with the 2010 Mopar Dodge Challenger, which was limited to 500 production cars. Since then, Mopar has launched more than 10 other examples of these limited-edition accessorized cars.

The latest are the 2023 Mopar Special Edition packages that are available on the 2023 Dodge Charger and Challenger Widebody R/T Scat Pack models. These packages arrived just before both Dodge muscle cars rode into the sunset at the end of 2023.
