Hyundai has been making the Sonata since the late 1980s. A hybrid version became available when the automaker redesigned the midsize sedan for the 2011 model year. The 2011 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid made 206 horsepower, enough for reasonably quick acceleration. Fuel economy was 36 mpg, according to the EPA.
