Though Jaguar used the XK name on a series of two-seat grand touring cars built in the middle of the 20th century, the modern Jaguar XK appeared in the mid-1990s as a coupe and convertible with small rear jump seats. This layout continued when the redesigned Jaguar XK debuted in 2007. Larger than the vehicle it replaced, the new XK emphasized luxury as much as performance, all wrapped in dramatic bodywork. By 2010, the XK lineup gained a new V8 engine with supercharging for the performance-tuned XKR. In addition, the pricey Jaguar received revised styling, a more sumptuous interior, and added standard equipment. Jaguar discontinued the XK following the 2015 model year.
