Sweet Car

05/18/2011

I love this car, despite its few flaws. It is fuel-efficient, zippy, cute, feels solid and drives solid. The non-S engine is a bit sluggish, so selecting the correct gear is essential (in a manual). The interior is sturdy, but has some questionable build quality (best part is chrome switches). I like the ambiance and styling, but it can look a bit cartoonish. Overall, a lovely, capable, easy vehicle to drive and live with - I would have added the turbocharged engine, some additional creature-comfort options, and the better sound system.

always broke

03/08/2014

This car could never go over 12 months without some kind of repair. Costs for repair are very expensive (replaced thermostat housing cost over $450) I have never gotten the promised gas mileage that the salesman said I would get and even the service tech didn't know what options this car had and admitted it had a problem that he couldn't fix. The one good thing about this car it is fun to drive.

Financial pit

11/08/2017

Just a warning to anyone thinking about a 2011 cooper clubman JHampton 50th Edition. Stay away. I purchased this right off the showroom floor - 35,000 drive out 6 years ago! After the extended warranty was over 6 months ago, Im looking at a 4k multi repair bill - Broken headlight assembly, front arm bushing replace, not to mention standard coolant flushing, tire replacement - Continental run flat tires :( . I just love to drive it but after 6 years it rides like an old go-cart and the interior rattles... it does not have the quality of the BMW - all this with only 52k miles. Ive dreamed of owning a Mini and was thrilled when I first saw her on the showroom floor. Im a senior citizen so its not like Im driving her and abusing her.... Im so disappointed, guess I will fix what I can at another repair shop and put a For Sale sign on my baby. The quality of workmanship on this car is lacking in the mechanical aspects (ride & durability) but also interior has too many creeks and noises. My dealership referred it as well, its an older car. Really? 30k old.... 52,000 miles? Im so very sad, I expected more. What happened BMW???
