Credit line transfer allows eligible customers to move a portion of their available credit from one Capital One credit card to another Capital One card.

To request a credit line transfer, click this link, log into your online account, and choose the card you would like to transfer credit line to (i.e. increase the credit line). If the applicable account is eligible, you will be brought to the credit line transfer request form where you can select the card you would like to transfer credit line from (i.e. decrease the credit line) and the transfer amount.

Credit line transfer provides eligible customers additional flexibility to manage their Capital One credit lines. Some customers may wish to move unused credit to their preferred card or consolidate credit to more easily make large purchases. For some customers, a credit line transfer may be an alternative to requesting a credit line increase.

In most cases, if you are eligible, we can transfer the requested amount to the selected credit line immediately. However, in some cases, we need to review certain information, and that may take up to 30 days.

No, a credit line transfer will not affect your APR.

No, transferring a portion of your credit line between Capital One accounts will not create a credit inquiry.

No, not unless you transfer your credit line for these accounts again. Typically, eligible accounts may use credit line transfer once per week.

Outstanding balances on the involved accounts will remain the same. A credit line transfer only involves the transfer of available credit. Continue to make on time payments on both accounts.

Transferring your credit line may affect your credit score. You may want to contact the credit bureaus for more information about your credit report and credit scores/ratings.

Your cash advance limits will be adjusted for the card you're transferring the credit line away from if your revised credit line is lower than the cash advance limit for that card. In this case, your cash advance limit will be reduced to match the new credit line. Additionally, your cash advance limits may change if you don't have sufficient available credit on the card you've transferred away from due to an outstanding balance. A credit line transfer will not impact the cash advance limit on the card receiving the credit line.

A credit line transfer allows you to move a portion of your available credit from one Capital One card to another Capital One card and will not affect your account balances. After a successful credit line transfer, the credit limit of each Capital One card will be updated based on the selected transfer amount. 

A balance transfer allows you to move unpaid debt from non-Capital One accounts—like other credit card balances and loans— to a Capital One card.
