Capital One Slingshot to expand to Databricks

Slingshot will offer Databricks customers greater visibility into their costs and insights to improve Databricks usage.

June 11, 2024, McLean, VA - Today, Capital One Software, an enterprise B2B software business of Capital One, announced Capital One Slingshot will expand to Databricks. Leveraging Databricks’ System Tables, Slingshot will provide Databricks customers with visibility into cost spikes, help identify their costliest users, jobs and workloads, and offer cost savings insights that show where Databricks usage may not be optimal.

“Slingshot was originally built to better manage and scale Snowflake,” said Ravi Raghu, President, Capital One Software, International, and Business Cards & Payments. “Customers have found tremendous value in that and have been asking when it will be available for Databricks. We’re thrilled to be expanding Slingshot to Databricks to help customers closely monitor their Databricks usage.”

Slingshot will also enable customers who leverage both Snowflake and Databricks to observe costs side-by-side. Customers will be able to view total cost of ownership across platforms and business units, helping them to better predict the total cloud cost through transparent and detailed visualizations.

“Many companies today, including Capital One, are using several cloud-based data platform providers to build a scalable data ecosystem,” explained Desikan Madhavanur, Chief Technology and Product Officer for Capital One Software. “The ability to observe Snowflake and Databricks costs side-by-side will allow our customers to better understand how their organization is using each platform.”

Slingshot for Databricks will be available in private preview in the coming months. Capital One Software is seeking Databricks customers to join the private preview and pilot the new integration. Visit the Capital One Software website to sign up.
