What is the 2024 Chevrolet Corvette E-Ray?

The Chevy Corvette is currently in its eighth generation (known widely as the C8) but only now welcomes a hybrid version that also happens to be all-wheel drive (AWD) — another Corvette first. The 2024 E-Ray blends decades of performance expertise with an electrified motor to produce a powerful, all-season sports car.

2024 Chevrolet Corvette E-Ray eAWD System

The 2024 Corvette E-Ray features electrified AWD (eAWD) as standard. This intelligent AWD system brings added traction and stability during various road conditions by adjusting power to the front wheels as needed. The E-Ray eAWD system also continuously learns and adapts to changing road surfaces and driver inputs in real time. Further improving performance in the dry or wet, Chevy equips the Corvette E-Ray with standard Brembo carbon-ceramic brakes.

2024 Chevrolet Corvette E-Ray Specs

Under the hood, the 2024 Corvette E-Ray features the same 6.2-liter V8 engine as the standard Corvette Stingray, which produces 495 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque. However, when coupled with an electric motor powered by a 1.9-kWh battery, the E-Ray's total output is 655 horsepower. That's just 15 horses shy of the C8 Corvette Z06. Chevy pairs this hybrid performance with a standard eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. Sorry, sports-car purists, no manual shifter is available.

2024 Chevrolet Corvette E-Ray Performance

To some, "hybrid" means humdrum. The Corvette E-Ray hybrid begs to differ. A zero-to-60-mph time of fewer than 3 seconds is common fare for the Corvette. But, according to General Motors, the Corvette E-Ray is even quicker, with a zero-to-60-mph time of 2.5 seconds, making it the quickest production Corvette ever.

2024 Chevrolet Corvette E-Ray Drive Modes

The Corvette E-Ray has six primary drive modes: Tour, Sport, Track, Weather, My Mode, and Z-Mode. Additionally, owners can activate a new Charge+ feature to maximize the battery's state of charge. This can be beneficial during track days, for example, as the feature primes the electric-hybrid powertrain for extended lapping.

Another new feature of the Corvette E-Ray is Stealth mode. When selected upon startup, the E-Ray will operate strictly on battery power. This all-electric (and quiet) driving mode is available only under certain conditions. The engine will kick in once the vehicle exceeds 45 mph, if more torque is necessary, or if the battery pack has no remaining power.

The front wheels feature 275/30R-20 tires, while Chevy outfits the rear wheels with 345/25R-21 tires. An optional performance package upgrades the rubber to Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires. To maintain comfort, the E-Ray has standard Magnetic Ride Control 4.0, which features three settings.
